This English language web site, which was first published on the internet in April 2007, contains material primarily relating to the visit of the Austrian frigate SMS Novara to Australia in 1858 whilst engaged in a round-the world scientific and diplomatic expedition. The site also contains reference to the Novara's involvement in the naval battle of Lissa 1866 - the last to include wooden ships. In addition, a bibliography of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian is presented, plus related links to the Novara, the Austrian navy and the incident at Sikyana. It should be noted that a number of German and other foreign language web sites exist relating the Novara and its round-the-world expedition, some of which are listed below. Numerous sites and books also discuss aspects of the Battle of Lissa.

NB: Many of these links are to the archived University of Wollongong website containing the original 2007+ material. However that is being transferred to the Blogger platform from 2021.
